Feasts
Feasts included many people and a large, fancy meal. The best of entertainment was provided (entertainment of the courts). Most feasts occurred on religious holidays, or for religious reasons. Some of these include Christmas Day, Epiphany, Easter, and the Ascension.
Jousts
Knights would often compete against each other in jousts. This was used for practice or to show strength. The competitors would use lances to try and knock their opponent off of his horse.
Jesters
Jesters were the court fools. They were professional clowns for kings and noblemen in the Middle Ages. Today they can be compared to a circus clown. Jesters were often sent to entertain kings when the king was angry or not feeling well.
Minstrels and Troubadours
Minstrels and troubadours were traveling musicians. Minstrels sang of legends and troubadours sang of love. They traveled from city to city. During the Crusades, the musicians would travel with the Crusaders to the Holy Land and sing of chivalry and romance. Some also sang of far away lands they saw on their journeys or of historical events.
Games and Sports
Some common games and sports of the Medieval Times included archery, bowling, dice, hammer-throwing, wrestling, and more. Most sports involved fitness and battle skills. This was because many men became Knights, as their lord was required to provide military service for the King.
